The auditorium of Lisbon’s International Fair (FIL) was the chosen venue to host the Conference & Delevery Ceremony of the Food & Nutrition Prize Awards 2016, on the 13th of October.
The categories in the competition were “Research and Development”, “Mobilization Initiative”, “Product Innovation” and “Food Sustainability”. Ana Teresa Sanches Silva won the first prize of the “Research and Development” category with the project “Rose4pack – active biodegradable packaging with rosemary extract to increase the shelf life of foods”.
Regarding the “Mobilization Initiative” category, the winning prize was won by the “Super Gang of Fresh Foods” project, by Lidl & Co. Furthermore, Frueat – Produtos Alimentares (Food Products), Ltd has won the category “Food Sustainability” with “Fruit – O Snack Saudável (The Healty Snack)”. The first prize for the category “Product Innovation” went to Ernesto Morgado S.A. with the project “Royal Duck NutriMinut”, which comprises 3 products: Brown Rice Mix 5 Cereals, Brown Rice & Quinoa and Brown Rice and Vegetable Seeds.
Célia Craveiro, President of the Portuguese Nutritionists Association, spoke about a seven-year journey, during which the organisation has received “more than half a thousand applications”. To the existing categories, this year was also added the “food waste” category. They have received 72 applications, 25 of which belonged to finalists and 14 belong to winners.
The Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto BIM (ISEPBIM) in partnership with Revit Technology Conference (RTC) undertook a training course from 17th to 19th October, with the objective of disclosing the Building Information Modeling (BIM) in Portugal.
There is no lack of great ideas among the 10 participant science-based projects in the immersion program provided by ANI – a GPS technology for indoor spaces, innovative pharmaceutical pictograms, a brain signals reading system, a wearable device for cyclists or a smart breathalyser service.
